I've been on the police force in my hometown for nearly 10 years now and I've had some experiences that would probably sound unbelievable. You never know what is going to happen every day at this job, so it is essential that everyone on the force is full prepared with the best equipment out there. During our buying process last year, I helped the chief make some decisions about new equipment. Among our order was the Streamlight TLR-2 HL. At the time, I never thought it would turn out to be quite as important as it was on the night of November 1, 2013. It was a dark, rainy night and I was out on patrol, armed with my Glock handgun and Streamlight TLR-2. The light made it possible to see things that a normal flashlight wouldn't pick up. It's beam was very bright and seemed like it could illuminate hundreds of yards at a time. I simply felt safer with the Streamlight TLR by my side. It was just after midnight when I received a call from our dispatcher. Someone had called in a burglary-in-progress only a few blocks from my location. I sped over and jumped out of the car with my gun, radio, and TLR-2 light. I clicked the Streamlight on and blasted the front of the house with light, hoping to catch a glimpse of the suspect. So far, I saw nothing. I called for back up but made my way around the back of the house, hoping to catch an escaping thief.
